Blog / Sparks Fly as Central Kitchen Progresses

Sparks fly as a carpenter cuts steel framing last week at Lodi Unified School District’s Central Kitchen project. Metal framing is now complete as the former warehouse is transformed into a modern kitchen to centralize delivery of thousands of school lunches. The new steel frame will carry the load of updated equipment, utilities and infrastructure.

Also on the interior, 40 percent of gypsum wall board is installed. Rough-in for plumbing, electrical and mechanical is largely completed. Insulation is finished on exterior walls and ceiling insulation is underway.

On the exterior, although not visible from the ground, single ply roofing is installed. Metal roof, wall and soffit panels in a mocha color are going up on the entry. We are waiting for the weather to warm up and dry to complete asphalt and concrete paving. Starting today, replacement of storefront windows begins, which will add dramatic detail, so check back with us for updates!
